Douglas Wins in Wheatland
The weekend of short-course racing in Wheatland, Missouri saw the Douglas Motorsports #27 AMSOIL/Rusty's Off-Road/Walker Evans Racing/Mickey Thompson Tire PRO-4 make great strides in its quest for the PRO-4 Championship. The team's hard work culminated with Round 5 win.
As noted earlier, Douglas Motorsports made a major
change to the race truck with a driveline component
change. The new setup showed instant results early
on during Saturday's Round 4 main event. Then a
melted gear indicator sensor caused a few issues
resulting in a fifth place finish.
Sunday morning saw torrential rains pass through
central Missouri really creating havoc with the track
layout. Fortunately, the track team went to work and
were able to get the race surface ready for a full day
of racing.
Sunday's PRO-4 race saw the outer portion of the track
fairly dry, but the infield portion still had some wet and
muddy spots. This played right into Scott's Midwest experience racing in similar conditions.
The race itself saw the #27 AMSOIL PRO-4 move through the field quickly and into second place by the end of the opening lap. Then with two laps remaining, the white and black PRO-4 grabbed the lead and the team's first win in 2018.
"My guys really have worked hard this season and it
shows," remarked Scott Douglas. "We made more
changes between Saturday and Sunday that really
made the truck turn. When we woke up to rain, I really
thought my experience in the wet would really give me
an advantage. Once the race unfolded, and thanks in
part to my Alpha DriverX gloves, I continued to hit my
marks lap after lap all the way to the top of the podium.
Wet or dry this Wheatland track is awesome and unlike
any other."
Currently Scott Douglas is fourth in the 2018 LOORRS
PRO-4 Championship.
The next race for Douglas Motorsports July 21 at
Wild West Motorsports Park in Sparks, Nevada.
