SCOTT DOUGLAS WINS FIRST LOORRS RACE - LEADS 2010 PRO 4
UNLIMITED POINTS
-
Las
Vegas, Nevada—Scott Douglas made a big statement at the Las
Vegas Motor Speedway on the first race weekend of the 2010 Lucas
Oil Off-Road Racing Series season. Douglas, who competes in the
Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL, was planning to be a
spectator, but with the largest Pro 4 Unlimited field ever on
hand, including all the top teams and drivers, the veteran
couldn’t resist the chance to race. With just minutes to go in
qualifying and no practice on the new race track, Scott Douglas
rolled the AMSOIL Kumho Ford F-150 off the transporter and
shocked everyone with the third fastest time of the huge 19
truck field.
Starting third on the grid in round one, Douglas blasted into
the lead on the first lap and held the number one spot through
the mandatory yellow restart and all the way to the checkered
flag. With a skeleton crew led by crew chief Jason Schampers,
Douglas started sixth on the grid for Sunday’s round 2 Pro 4
Unlimited race. Scott was able to run down all but one truck by
the end of the race, finishing second. “This was just a great
weekend – the racing was fast and clean, and the talent on the
race track was just phenomenal – it was a lot of fun,” commented
Douglas after the race. The first and second place finishes put
Douglas and the AMSOIL Kumho
team in the points lead with 99 points after two
rounds of racing.
