What is TORC?
The Traxxas TORC Series-THE Off Road Championship, is the fastest, most punishing short course racing series on the planet. TORC events are packed with flag-to-flag fender banging as drivers push the limits over whoop and jump filled natural terrain racetracks. Off-road racing fans come from far and wide to experience this most challenging form of high-octane competition and once they taste TORC for the first time they’ll be hooked for life.

TORC vision
Initially, TORC was the brainchild of a group of pro drivers with one goal: unification of the various off-road racing entities across the U.S., and create the highest standard of competition. Once the creative juices began to flow between Ricky Johnson, drivers, fans and sponsors alike it wasn’t too long before the need for an entirely new racing series became obvious: The Traxxas TORC Series.

With unparalleled action, TORC bridges the gap between extreme sports, traditional racing and even mixed martial arts. The series has an “edge” not found in other forms of racing focused on a younger fan base versus more traditional motorsports. TORC utilizes a variety of short-tracks and larger outdoor motocross-inspired courses with a different look, a different feel, and more genuine “Kick-Ass” racing action!

The principals
In 2008 AMA Hall of Fame supercross star Ricky Johnson tried his hand at off-road race promotion at his California racing facility, Perris Speedway. “Ricky Johnson’s Off Road Grand Prix” proved successful and demonstrated once again that racers know what it takes to produce quality racing events. At the urging of the Professional Drivers Group, Johnson partnered with businessman Mitch Covington to begin the process of unifying formerly fragmented short-course drivers and organizations into a cohesive nationwide series. Through their efforts, TORC assures that short-course off-road racing, a sport with a long and revered heritage, continues as a sustainable national series and provides a stage for the best racers and teams in the world.

USAC: TORC’s sanctioning body
As TORC’s sanctioning body, The United States Auto Club (USAC) adds a superior level of professionalism to the series. USAC will play a major role in series operations just as it does in the K&N Silver Crown Series, National Sprint Car Series, Mopar Midget Nationals, Ford Focus, and 1/4 Midget series. Each year TORC champions will be recognized for their achievements at the prestigious USAC banquet.

Driver and sponsor support
The Professional Drivers Group (PDG) works closely with both drivers and sponsors to assemble the TORC series package. Based on the principal that all stakeholders deserve a strong voice, TORC will work with the PDG to build a sustainable future for the sport we all love.

Traxxas: TORC Title Sponsor
Traxxas, “The Fastest Name in Radio Control”, has honored TORC as Title Sponsor through 2011. “The Traxxas TORC Series” or “THE Traxxas Off-Road Championship Series”. Broadcasts of the eight-round TORC series will be broadcast on national television beginning in June 2009.

Where TORC is headed
The Traxxas TORC Series kicks off this May 2009 in Arizona and brings wild off-road racing action to several metropolitan areas across the country. While there will always be the traditional events at “The Big House” in Crandon, WI and the state’s famous Bark River racing facility, look for a variety of track designs and venues that keep the action close and the fans closer.
